Miss Lauren Melanie Edmenson School Of Dance

Miss Lauren

Hello, my name is Lauren. I teach RAD ballet, streetdance and cheerleading. I have years of dance teaching experience spanning from Nursery/Pre-Primary in Dance to Intermediate and adult students.

I have studied RAD ballet since I was 3 and have trained under Melanie since 2004, demonstrating my dedication and loyalty to the art and the school. I completed all my RAD ballet grades from Pre-Primary to Grade 8 and moved on to study the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance in 2018. Once I complete the course in November 2021 with Melanie’s support and mentorship, this will give me Registered Teacher Status.

Studying with the RAD means I am up to date with the syllabus work, current science on child development and it enables me to evidence that I am at the forefront of dance education and training. Furthermore, it shows that I have the most up-to-date knowledge and skills to keep your dancers safe and help them to reach their full potential.

I was a gymnastics coach for 9 years, achieving British Gymnastics Level 2 coaching qualifications in multiple disciplines. I coached athletes from recreational level to national competition level. As well as gymnastics, I also hold a British Cheerleading Association Level 2 coaching qualification and have experience coaching teams to BCA national competitions.

I have extensive choreography skills, including devising show routines for students in multiple genres of dance, as well as experience preparing students for RAD exams. This also includes leadership and organisation skills with backstage and after class management of the students. I am up to date with both First aid training, DBS checks and safeguarding children qualifications.

All in all, I am hardworking, enthusiastic, supportive, and encouraging with students

of all ages and abilities. I pride myself on the rapport I have with my students and the open communication I am able to create with parents and carers. I will not disappoint.
